Pengaruh Pendidikan dan Motivasi Mencari Kerja Terhadap Minat Melamar Pekerjaan Pada Pencari Kerja di Wilayah Jakarta Barat

Abstract

The high unemployment rate in West Jakarta highlights the importance of understanding the factors that influence job application intentions among job seekers. Education and motivation to seek employment are considered key determinants that may shape individuals' willingness to apply for available positions. This study aims to examine the effect of education and job-seeking motivation on the intention to apply for jobs among unemployed residents in West Jakarta. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consists of 79,510 unemployed individuals in West Jakarta. A sample of 100 respondents was selected based on Slovin’s formula with a 10% significance level and simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed directly via WhatsApp, using closed-ended questions measured on a Likert scale. The collected data were processed using SPSS 26 and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that both education and job-seeking motivation have a significant positive effect on the intention to apply for jobs. Higher levels of education and stronger motivation to seek employment are associated with greater interest in applying for job opportunities. These findings suggest that enhancing educational attainment and fostering motivation among job seekers can effectively increase their likelihood of engaging in job application activities.
