Abstract

Fraud is a harmful act committed either individually or collectively. Issues of fraud are not only found in the government sector but have also emerged in the field of education. This study aims to reveal the culture of academic fraud that leads to dishonest practices among students. This research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that in the Faculty of Economics and Business, the culture of fraud originates from human resources (students) who perceive dishonest behavior as common practice. Academic fraud is driven by the pressure to maintain high academic grades, the lack of supervision during examinations (especially when using smartphones or laptops), and the rationalization of fraudulent actions by students. These factors collectively contribute to the normalization of academic fraud among students.
